Edit the Universe!

(Registration Not Required)

This wiki's goal is to present a deep, diverse fictional universe with a core produced by the site creator, known as the Interstellar Community, and submission from viewers of the site expanding that core. All materials on this site can be used in on-site stories (as long as those stories are not published elsewhere). Unless indicated by a copyright note by their creator, the pages on this site are free for use in other publications, but please respect the rights of contributors if they have stated conditions for use.

Before using the Fifteen Interstellar Community species in a story, please make sure that storyline isn't already covered by the ISC Timeline (which covers those stories that the site creator himself intends to write).

Practically anyone can have talents that might be useful to this collaborative project - artist can draw various species, or cities on other worlds; astronomers, biologists, chemists, and physicists are always useful when trying to manage the possibilities of space and to imagine entirely new possibilities; and writers can submit stories of different worlds, not to mention write compelling descriptions of species and worlds. Depending on the levels of detail, architecture, city planning, history, psychology, philosophy, linguistics, and any number of other interests can be of the highest value in making this fictional universe compelling. There are no limits to the depths of imagination allowed in this project, and while this is undoubtedly a work of science-fiction, fantasy elements like magic are also welcome.

The core will consist of the area closest to our world, designated "The Interstellar Community", and the universe is organized around the idea that things get more unusual the further away from Earth and Sol System the wanderer roams. So, stuff closest to us might look like Star Trek episodes, where the species are almost solely bipedal, and fairly familiar in their attitudes. Meanwhile, in a neighboring galaxy, entirely unusual forms of life can be found.

It should be noted that I don't mind a dense universe - as you might notice from the Interstellar Community section, where practically every star that is strong enough, and with a decent life expectancy, gets a sentient species around it. This is unrealistic, but also fun to play around with. If you prefer to put only two species in an entire galaxy, by all means contribute it to the project. There's plenty of space to go around, and all individual preferences can be satisfied.
